Antimicrobial Properties of Shieldex Materials

Silver reduces the growth of germs and bacteria. The silver ions released by silver can inhibit the growth of microbes. Shieldex textiles are metallized with 99.9% pure silver and offer innovative possibilities for reducing microbial contamination on surfaces. Thanks to the integrated 99.9% pure silver, the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and certain viruses is inhibited. This effect makes Shieldex products particularly attractive for applications involving antibacterial materials or fabrics that must meet strict hygiene requirements.

Medical Textiles

Antimicrobial Yarns

Silver-enhanced yarns offer a wide range of applications in the textile and hygiene industries. The 99.9% pure silver used in Shieldex yarns can inhibit the growth of microbes and also has antistatic properties. Shieldex® 22/1

A monofilament silver yarn with a titer of 22dtex. Antibacterial and antistatic - ideal for antimicrobial garments (silver is a biocidal active ingredient according to §67 of the EU Biocide Regulation) as well as static dissipation in beispiesweise carpets, big bags and garments. The yarn metallized with silver is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.
Characteristics

Antimicrobial Fabrics

Shieldex fabrics combine the flexibility of polyamide with the antimicrobial properties of pure silver. Certified silver can inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms, helping to reduce the formation of odors. One example is Shieldex® Med-tex P130—a hybrid knit made of 78% polyamide and 22% elastane, metallized with 99.9% pure silver. Due to its high elasticity, it is suitable for a variety of textile applications. Potential areas of use include medical sensors, wound dressings, or hygiene-sensitive home textiles such as bedding and towels.

Shielding Fabrics

Shieldex® Med-tex P130

A knitted fabric metallized with silver, consists of 22% elastomer, which makes it stretchable in two directions. The textile was specially developed for medical applications as well as for skin diseases, especially neurodermatitis. The conductive textile is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified and can therefore be worn next to the skin. Silver is a biocidal active ingredient according to §67 of the EU Biocide Regulation.

Shieldex® Med-tex P180

The knitted fabric metallized with pure silver consists of 6% Dorlastan and is stretchable in only one direction compared to Shieldex®Med-tex P130. The knitted fabric consists of 6% Dorlastan, which makes it stretchable in only one direction. This knitted fabric is also ideal for applications that are in direct contact with the skin. Silver is a biocidal active ingredient according to §67 of the EU Biocide Regulation.

Shieldex® Tulle

Shieldex®Tulle is a conductive knitted fabric which, with 10% silver, is particularly suitable for EMC protection and antimicrobial applications. Silver is a biocidal active ingredient according to §67 of the EU Biocide Regulation. The textile Shieldex® Tulle is available in two versions, which differ only in width. The narrower version has a width of approx. 110 cm and is also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, while the second version is approx. 145 cm wide.

Shieldex® Bremen RS

Electrically and thermally conductive fabric - Shieldex® Bremen RS is a ripstop fabric metallized with pure silver and is excellent for shielding electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range from 0.2 to 14 GHz. Due to the silver and the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 conformity, this antimicrobial fabric can also be used for hygiene applications. Silver is a biocidal active ingredient according to §67 of the EU Biocide Regulation.
