Silver & polyamide – the perfect team
Polyamide is used as the backing material for our silvered fabrics. It gives textiles strength and elasticity. The 99.9% pure silver is a lightweight and flexible precious metal that stands out from other metals as an electrical and thermal conductor with an antimicrobial and EMC-shielding effect.
Copper – shields
Like silver, copper has an antimicrobial effect and conducts electricity and heat. Its particular strength lies in EMC shielding. Coppered Shieldex® products are often used for room shielding and shielded cables.
Nickel – protects
Some of the Shieldex® textiles are also coated with nickel. Nickel boosts conductivity while also offering corrosion protection for the silver and copper coating.
Tin – conductive soldering
Tin is the hidden champion among metals. Especially in the field of partial metallisation, the tin coating enables fabrics to be soldered while also guaranteeing flexibility and extremely high conductivity in the textile.

Shieldex® is suitable for varied uses thanks to the combination of polyamide and 99.9% pure silver. Silver has an antibacterial, fungicidal, odour-inhibiting, skin-friendly, temperature-regulating, conductive, antistatic and shielding effect. Depending on the metal content and material properties, the products are suited to various areas of application, such as EMC shielding, sensors, the automotive sector, aerospace and medicine.
